The Arsonist ran a solid race and finished third today at Wincanton. His jumping was superb but he probably needed another 1/2 mile or a stronger pace to take the finish out of his rivals.
On this evidence we should have some fun with him during the summer, the jockey told us after the race that our boy will win races as he jumps and gallops for fun.

The Arsonist runs today at Wincanton, It's not a strong race and there will only be 6 runners. His jumping is good and he is well at home.

Tail of the Bank wins again, a competitive race and he carried top weight - he's a star.
May go to Liverpool in April, we will see how he comes out of the race and hope the ground doesn't dry out.
Watch out next season when he goes novice chasing!

Off to Newbury today with Tail of the Bank (Forrest), the race looks very competitive and we have top weight of 11-12 so it's a big ask.
Forrest is well and we are expecting a big run but in these Novice Handicap races you are at the mercy of one mans opinion.
I feel there are a couple of horses in todays race who's mark is too low, one of them being Forrest!, lets hope the other ones not as good as i think he is!
Our boy will enjoy the better ground and hopefully use his jumping to good effect and be in contention at the end of the race - Come on Forrest!

We were all very pleased with Jack Rio who ran a solid ran behind some high handicapped horses at Taunton on Thurday.
She is totally genuine and she jumped and travelled well throughout the race.

Tail of the Bank made the long trip to Newcastle worth while by staying on in fine fashion to win the opening race on the card.
Held up and pulling quite hard in the early part of the race he looked in trouble 4 out, Andrew said it was difficult ground to quicken off so it took a long time for him to get into stride. Coming alongside the leader at the last had been the plan and things worked out perfectly as we outstayed the rest on the run to the line.
Forrest would be better on decent ground and he really needs a stronger pace to show his talent, but a win is a win and we are all very pleased for him as he is genuine chap and a pleasure to train.
Isaac Butt hated the ground and to compound things Andrews saddle slipped after the third fence.
He was finally pulled up four out, even though he was still willing to run on Andrew couldn't stay upright any longer!
Hopefully we will get some decent ground soon, Isaac has now slipped to a mark that he can win from, it's just a case of finding the right course and the right opposition on the right day.

We go to Newcastle tomorrow with Isaac Butt and Tail of the Bank.
Both have chances but we think the heavy ground would be against Isaac.
Tail of the Bank should run a big race and the opposition is much weaker than he has met before so we hope things go to plan and he can get his head in front at last.

We were hoping for a result at Towcester but Isaac got involved in a battle with the two front runners and sadly had nothing left to climb the final hill. lit up by the blinkers early in the race he probably used a lot of petrol. The other two who had blazed the trail also failed to get home and were swamped by horses coming from off the pace. We are still learning about Isaac but we know he is good enough to win a race in this grade, hopefully next time we will get it right.

We have two new arrivals at our yard, a French horse, Kap West, with some decent form in France, and a grey mare called Jack Rio who has been running on the flat in Ireland.
We think we have an owner for the French horse so I will give you his details when the sale has been agreed.
Jack Rio is for sale if anyone is interested and from what we have seen so far she is a really nice sort. We schooled her on the day she arrived and were pleasantly surprised how natural a jumper she was. We will be entering her to run in novice/maiden hurdles very shortly.

Tail of the bank blew up three out in his Newbury race, there was no pace on and he pulled hard for the first mile which didn't help. We thought he was straight but the time he had off after his fall coupled with the bad weather hold up proved his undoing.
We cant be disappointed because he was still only beaten 16 lengths by a very good horse.

Coombsway ran a decent race in really bad ground and I was pleased to see him staying on again in the last few furlongs.
Shaped like a stayer in the making.

Forrest is back at Newbury tomorrow, lets hope he's not unlucky this time and shows what a good horse he is.

Coombsway has his second ever run at Warwick today, we hope he puts up a good display today after his poor show first time out at Chepstow.
We found his blood to be wrong after that race and he was quiet for a while afterwards, he is fine now and we look forward to a better run.

Isaac Butt ran a really good race to get third pace at Towcester, he hated the heavy ground and the trip was probably inadequate but he still battled well. This run gives us hope that when the ground dries and we find the right course and trip he can get his head in front.
Wincanton was a bad day, both our horses hated the ground and neither really ran any kind of race. We did miss a few days work during the recent cold spell so being positive the outing will have helped them both and we can now plan ahead.

Looks as if Dolly's race at Wincanton will be split so we should get a run. 2 tickets are available through JFF if we run.
We also have Strategic Plan in the first, he is in good form but has shot up the handicap so today will tell us if he is still progressing

Tail of the Bank was about to show everyone that he is a serious racehorse, unfortunately he fell when leading at the second last hurdle at Newbury. Luckily he is fine and will have another chance to redeem himself in the next few weeks.

Tail of the Bank (Forrest) is running tomorrow at Newbury. This is his first Hurdle race and we are hoping for another big run.
We are up against a strong field again but he has schooled well and we are hopeful of a good display.

Red Jester will have a break after his recent run at Newbury. The ground went against him on the day and so after a fantastic few months he's having a well deserved break. We will bring him back in the spring for a summer campaign on the ground he needs and we hope for more success with this totaly genuine and talented lad.

Strategic Plan ran another solid race but found just one too good for him at Plumton today.
He came from last place and looked to be catching the eventual winner on the run in but the ground took it's toll and he had to settle for second.
Connections were all pleased with the run and he has showed that he's still in good form.

Ridden to get the trip of 26f Wujood didn't like being stuck behind a wall of horses and lost interest!
Andrew kept working on him but once he'd made his mind up there was never any chance of him being competitive on that holding ground.
We will have a rethink and try to find a race and a trip that will allow him to run prominently again, this should hopefully spark him into action.

LAURA'S CHILDRENS HAMSTERS HAVE ESCAPED!
Unfortunately the kids hamsters have escaped in the house, they have been at large for a few days now but would presume they are well because of all the noise coming from the loft!
Laura says they are really friendly and are hardly ever apart! - A photofit is attached to help you spot them should they escape from the house !

We had some fun with Clive and Ian, the owners of Easterly Breeze, when we ran at Wolverhampton on Saturday night. Doughnut ran really well again to finish third, he is ultra consistent and if the handicapper drops us another pound or so we will win soon! The difficult thing with all weather racing at our level is finding the right race, horses have to go down the weights to win races and you never really know which ones are well handicapped on the day - I'm learning quickly and I'm sure our turns not far away!

As we feared the ground at Taunton was far too soft for The Arsonist at Taunton on Thursday. Christian Williams did the sensible thing and pulled him up when he was out of contention. We had very few options for our boy and he was ready and bursting to run, we will know in future that we must have that better ground.

Forrest ( Tail of the Bank) ran a brilliant race at Newbury yesterday. Jockey Andrew Glassonbury was really excited after the run and feels Forrest has a very bright future ahead of him.
Five horses finished clear of the rest and four of those were covered by just two lengths.
If this had been his second run of the season I am sure we would have been placed, however this was an awesome effort from a star of the future. We still feel he has to grow into his massive frame but this run will certainly have brought him on, we will look for one more bumper to give him racing experience before he runs over hurdles.

Forrest, as he is known, runs in the bumper at Newbury tomorrow. He will be up against horses from some of the top trainers in the country but we are hopeful of a big run. He is not built to win bumpers, at 18hh he is a chaser in the making. So a good show and a progressive run is what we want, we would like to see him staying on at the death and if he's close enough he could give them all a big scare!
